School to School Support

School to School Support

School to School Support contributes to a school driven self improvement model which can lead to significant improvements in pupil outcomes. Teaching Schools take an active lead in the co-ordination and provision of support for other schools. Support may take the form of training, consultancy, acting as a mentor, or providing temporary additional skills through teacher or senior leader placement. Individual deployments are based on need and demand and there is no pre-defined time commitment.

This often involves working with a school or academy in challenging circumstances to bring about improvement by effectively drawing on capacity from across the teaching school alliance and its strategic partners. School to School Support can provide additional leadership capacity to improve the quality of teaching and learning in specific subjects, year groups, or with individual teachers, and assist with the development and implementation of policies designed to bring about whole school improvement.

Teaching Schools ensure that the best leaders are working to improve the quality of teaching and leadership where it is most needed. This includes middle and senior leaders working as specialist leaders of education (SLE), head teachers working as local and national leaders of education (LLE/NLE), and chairs of governors working as national leaders of governance (NLG).
