Early Years Leader Network Meetings 2019/20

Meetings will include:

  • The valuable opportunity to network with others, share your experiences and establish ways forward.
  • Opportunity to explore in more depth aspect of teaching and learning related to national and local need.
  • Aspects of school improvement and subject leadership.
  • The opportunity to consider new research and next practice

The sessions will be run by Dr Carla Solvason and Niki Stobbs.

Planning and teaching for depth in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4
Jun 16 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

A one day course led by David Barclay

Develop an understanding of:

  • how learning can be layered across a sequence to give all children the opportunity to develop depth of understanding
  • how ‘desirable difficulty’ can be built into sequence of learning, rather than bolted onto them
  • how the principles demonstrated on this course can be applied across the curriculum

Gain practical classroom strategies which

  • are designed specifically for years 2, 3 and 4
  • are applicable to the design of effective tasks which support all children to develop their thinking and deepen their conceptual understanding
  • make it easier for pupils to think harder, apply their thinking and achieve at a higher standard

English/Literacy Subject Leader Network Meetings 2019/20

The University of Worcester leads termly network meetings for subject leaders of Literacy/English.

 

Every meeting includes:

The latest updates regarding your role in subject leadership:  these will include up-to-the minute OFSTED messages: national updates related to your subject leader role and exploration of data.

An opportunity to stay up-to-date by exploring key areas of teaching and learning, particular curriculum areas, or latest pedagogies, led by experts.

A chance to network with other subject leaders, share experiences and ‘magpie’.

Dates:  13th November 2019, 26th February 2020, 17th June 2020

Reading Teachers’ Book Club
Jun 17 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
  • To improve your knowledge of children’s books to inspire readers in KS2
  • to engender a love of reading in your pupils
  • to include more whole novels in your reaching to fire pupils’ imagination, to develop vocabulary and to support raising standards
  • 10 new books to use with your class
  • to ‘book chat’ with other teachers

All sessions are Wednesdays and fee includes 2 books per meeting for sessions one to five, collated notes and refreshments.

Dates: 9th October, 6th November, 22nd January, 11th March, 6th May and 17th June.

Mathematics Subject Leader Network Meetings 2019/20

  • There is the opportunity to explore in more depth, an aspect of teaching and learning related of national and local need
  • The valuable opportunity to network with others, share your experiences and establish ways forward
  • Finally every session includes the quirkier side of mathematics for you to engage with
